Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that supports individuals in understanding and healing from the effects of trauma. It integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques with trauma-informed care to help clients explore how traumatic experiences influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Through a paced and supportive process, clients develop skills to manage distress, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and reduce trauma-related symptoms, while building emotional regulation, coping strategies, and a greater sense of safety and control.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is an evidence-based therapeutic approach developed by Marsha Linehan and used to support individuals facing intense emotions and complex challenges. It focuses on building practical life skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and effective interpersonal communication. Clients are supported in applying these skills in everyday situations, strengthening motivation, and addressing ongoing difficulties in a structured and goal-oriented way.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
MI is a collaborative, evidence-based approach that helps individuals explore ambivalence and strengthen motivation for change. It is particularly effective for behaviours where mixed feelings are common, such as substance use, health habits, or medication adherence. Through guided conversation, MI supports clients in clarifying goals, increasing confidence, and taking meaningful steps toward positive change that align with their values and readiness.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a structured, evidence-based intervention used to support individuals who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide. It emphasizes creating a safe and respectful space where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. Through compassionate and collaborative dialogue, ASIST focuses on enhancing safety, identifying strengths and protective factors, and developing a practical plan to support immediate wellbeing and ongoing care.
